Akon Konvicted

Akon's debut album "Locked Up" led him to instant fame and in just two years he had it all - he tallied a multi-platinum album, was granted his own boutique label (used in the spawn of T-Pain), and upgraded from writing songs for low-level artists to a desired collaborator of artists like Yound Jeezy, R. Kelly, Gwen Stefani, and even Elton John. Hip-hop superstar's second album, Konvicted, though being not very different from the debut album, provides a new perspective and comes with a more hyper-macho R&B featuring guests spots from Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Styles P. Hitting strippers (but not falling in love with them), smacking behind, seducing with that I-like-you hook in his voice, sounding yearning and heartbroken - Akon has that unique voice to express it all in his second album.

Most tracks in "Konvicted" are Akon's work with one only exclusion - the fist single of the album - "Smack That" featuring Eminem. Both the first and the second track - "I wanna love you"(starring the irrestistible sleepy sex raps of Snoop Dogg) have already stated clearly their chart-breaking power. However, in this album the best works of this album appear to be those least expected like "Never Took The Time" - a romantic almost rock-pop ballad with Akon singing melodically over the guitar. Main themes on the other tracks are modern-day ghetto violence (read as a legacy of the slavery), a brave but regretting touch of the moral dilemma of street life, in other words - we see an Akon showing us swindler's life we never knew -invaded by hopelessness and paranoia.
